Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has opened up about the complexities of fatherhood, revealing his unwavering commitment to caring for all his children, even those he suspects may not be biologically his.
In a candid interview that has since sparked widespread discussion online, the Bongo Flava icon reflected on the emotional and personal challenges that come with being a father in the public eye.
“First of all, I know I have kids. But I also know that some are not my kids,” Diamond said. “But I don’t want to argue with the mother and all that… I take care of them.”
While the exact number of children he fathers remains a subject of speculation, the award-winning artist gave a somewhat ambiguous response when asked directly. “Four to five, no, five, four or five or six. You know, as I say, like, these things sometimes can get crazy.”
Despite the uncertainty, Diamond was unequivocal about his role as a provider and father figure. “I really try my level best to make sure that I take good care of them,” he affirmed.
The singer also touched on his relationships with his former partners, asserting that he maintains a cordial and respectful rapport with them. “I’m very cool with all my baby mamas. They love me, I don’t lie to you. Like, I’m a good person to them.”
However, he admitted that friction sometimes arises with the men currently in their lives. “Sometimes their men, they get mad at me… thinking maybe we have something. No, we don’t. We got nothing going on.”
When asked whether he could rekindle any of those past relationships, Diamond offered a playful yet ambiguous reply: “Definitely… No, no, no… It’s not that way.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of respect and effective co-parenting. “You can be cool with the mother of your kids, no matter the circumstances,” he said.
Diamond Platnumz, known for hits such as Jeje and Inama, continues to be one of Africa’s most influential artists, not just musically, but also for the transparency with which he shares his personal journey.
