The newest star in Nollywood and East African entertainment isn’t an actor or singer, it’s a newborn. Prince Rakeem Mkambala, the baby boy of actress Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, has taken social media by storm, racking up over 127,000 Instagram followers just hours after his birth.
The proud grandmother, actress Iyabo Ojo, broke the news on Instagram with a touching photo of Priscilla and her son at the hospital. In the post, she revealed that an account had already been created for baby Rakeem. Within the first 30 minutes, the page skyrocketed to 36,000 followers and crossed the 55,000 mark shortly after. Now, the numbers keep climbing.
While many fans celebrated the outpour of love for the Ojo-Jux family, the follower surge sparked debate online. Some social media users applauded the show of support, while others mocked Nigerians for what they described as “misplaced priorities.”
Regardless of the chatter, baby Rakeem is already setting records as one of the fastest-growing celebrity Instagram accounts in Nigeria, all before his first lullaby.
