Is Inter Milan about to break records with €45m Lookman Bid?

Lookman Ademola

Inter Milan are set to step up their pursuit of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman with an improved offer of €45 million expected next week.

The Serie A giants have made Lookman their top attacking target this summer and are now prepared to increase their bid after Atalanta turned down an initial €40 million proposal. Atalanta are reportedly holding out for around €50 million, but Inter are hoping their revised offer will be enough to strike a deal.

The move is part of Inter\’s transfer strategy backed by a €100 million war chest provided by club owners, Oaktree Capital. Renowned sports editor Ivan Zazzaroni confirmed on social media that Lookman remains Inter’s priority signing, writing, “Oaktree have made €100 million available for transfers… Lookman is their priority target.”

He added that the ball will soon be in the court of Atalanta CEO Antonio Percassi and Lookman himself, hinting that a deal could be on the horizon if Atalanta are willing to compromise.

Despite the previous firm stance from Inter that they would not meet Atalanta’s asking price, the willingness to raise their bid shows growing urgency to land the 27-year-old before the new season kicks off.

Lookman, who has already agreed personal terms with Inter on a multi-year contract worth €4 million per year, has made it clear that he favours a move to San Siro. The Nigerian international has rejected interest from Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Napoli to focus solely on joining the Nerazzurri.

Napoli, led by new manager Antonio Conte, reportedly explored a swap deal involving Giacomo Raspadori, but Lookman declined the offer. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s pursuit was hindered by their ongoing financial struggles.

Lookman’s transfer comes as he approaches full fitness following an injury, and Inter’s revised bid signals a significant shift in their approach, underlining their determination to get the deal done.
