World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has officially confirmed the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, who passed away at the age of 71 following a brief illness.
The announcement sent shockwaves through the global wrestling community on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The confirmation came through a heartfelt statement shared on Hogan’s official Instagram page by his family: “It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. At this time of grief, we ask that everyone please respect the privacy of his family and friends. He will be missed, but never forgotten.”
Shortly after, WWE paid tribute to the late icon across its official social media platforms, honoring Hogan\’s monumental impact on the sport and the entertainment industry.
Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hulk Hogan began his wrestling career in 1977 and rose to superstardom in the 1980s under the WWF (now WWE). Known for his charisma, red-and-yellow ring gear, and signature catchphrases, Hogan became a six-time WWF Champion and headlined multiple WrestleMania events.
In 1996, Hogan stunned fans with a dramatic heel turn as “Hollywood Hogan” during the formation of the New World Order (NWO) in WCW, a storyline that revolutionized professional wrestling.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, once in 2005 for his solo achievements, and again in 2020 as part of the NWO faction.
