Popular social media activist Verydarkman has publicly dismissed claims that he has been financially supported by Nigerian music star Davido, insisting he has never received any money from the singer or his associates.
In a video shared via his Instagram page on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Verydarkman addressed widespread speculation that the DMW boss had sponsored various aspects of his lifestyle, including travel and accommodation. He described such claims as false narratives being used to undermine his credibility.
“Anytime I talk about Davido, people go say ‘after all Davido has done for you’. That Davido flew me to Lagos or contributed to my NGO,” he said. “But the time I go to Lagos to go see Davido, na me pay my flight ticket. The hotel wey dem say Davido lodge me, na me pay for the hotel. But for entertainment purposes, we just leave am like that.”
Verydarkman clarified that while he maintains a cordial relationship with Davido, no financial transactions have taken place between them. He said his visits and engagements have been self-funded, contrary to public perception.
The activist\’s remarks come as a response to critics who have questioned his impartiality and motives whenever he speaks positively about Davido, alleging favoritism rooted in financial gain. However, Verydarkman insists his views are independent and not influenced by any form of compensation.
