The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has reiterated his vision of a peaceful passing, stating that he believes he will die on a Sunday after church service, following a meal of his favourite pounded yams.
Speaking on Thursday, August 8, 2025 during the fourth day of RCCG’s 2025 Annual International Convention, themed “The Overcomers”, Pastor Adeboye told the congregation that his death would be “swift, painless, and without sickness.”
The 82-year-old cleric explained that he first shared this vision two years ago, noting that it was not a prophecy to stir fear, but rather to reassure believers that “death can be a peaceful transition for those in Christ.”
“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yams, and then pass on without any sickness,” Adeboye said to thousands of worshippers gathered at the Redemption City headquarters in Ogun State.
Preaching on the message titled “Possess Your Possessions”, the revered preacher urged Christians to take hold of their God-given blessings through prayer, persistence, and spiritual warfare. He cited biblical examples of Rachel and Hannah, who overcame barrenness through fervent prayers, as proof that no challenge is insurmountable with faith.
Adeboye further encouraged his listeners to reject all forms of spiritual oppression, insisting that believers are destined to overcome every battle when they remain steadfast in God.
The RCCG International Convention, which draws millions of participants both on-site and online, continues through the weekend with worship sessions, prayer vigils, and special teachings.
