An early morning explosion on Saturday, July 26, 2025, caused significant damage to an apartment building in Sikies, a suburb of Thessaloniki, Greece\’s second-largest city.
The powerful blast injured two people and shattered windows across nearby buildings, according to local reports.
Authorities said the explosion occurred on the ground floor of the apartment block, leaving large holes in the walls and damaging six parked vehicles in the area. Public broadcaster ERT confirmed that anti-terror police are now investigating the incident.

Saturday’s blast comes just months after a woman with a criminal background was killed in a similar explosion in front of a Thessaloniki bank. The 38-year-old had links to a convicted bank robber accused of terrorist activity, including sending a parcel bomb to the city\’s appeals court in February last year.
