The passing of the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has drawn heartfelt tributes from Northern Nigerian leaders, including the Governors of Kebbi and Katsina States, who praised the late monarch’s enduring contributions to peace, governance, and public service.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State extended condolences to the government and people of Zamfara State, describing the late Emir as a wise and peace-loving leader whose guidance played a vital role in the stability of his domain. In a message conveyed to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal through his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris, Governor Idris noted that the monarch’s death comes at a critical time when his counsel was deeply needed.

He recalled the Emir’s decades of service, particularly in the health sector during the era of the old Sokoto State, and expressed confidence that his legacy would remain influential for generations. Governor Idris prayed for Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the late monarch and encouraged the Gusau Emirate and the bereaved family to take pride in his life of service to both God and humanity.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kebbi State, I offer our deepest sympathies and pray Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he concluded.

Similarly, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State mourned the Emir’s death, describing him as a calm, thoughtful, and dignified leader who served with distinction since his ascension to the throne in 2015. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, Governor Radda praised the Emir’s rise from a seasoned public servant to a revered traditional ruler who provided guidance beyond the borders of Zamfara.

“He led with quiet strength and wisdom,” Radda said. “His reign brought dignity and stability to Gusau, and his voice of reason echoed throughout Northern Nigeria.”

Radda emphasized the importance of such leadership, especially at a time when Nigeria needs unifying figures. He offered condolences on behalf of the Katsina State government to the people of Zamfara, the Gusau Emirate Council, and the late Emir’s family, praying for Allah’s forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed monarch.

The Emir of Gusau, aged 71, passed away after a prolonged illness. His death marks the end of a notable era in traditional leadership in Northern Nigeria.
