Tinubu meets Kagame in Rwanda for Africa CEO Forum 2026

Economic reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, for the highly anticipated Africa CEO Forum 2026, where top business leaders, investors, and African presidents are expected to discuss the future of the continent’s economy.

The Nigerian leader touched down at Kigali International Airport on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 and was received with full honours by Rwandan officials before proceeding to the Urugwiro Presidential Village for a meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Videos shared online captured the moment Tinubu stepped out of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft onto a red carpet before inspecting a guard of honour and exchanging greetings with dignitaries from both countries.

In another symbolic moment, Kagame personally welcomed Tinubu at the presidential residence as both leaders walked side by side along a ceremonial red carpet lined with honour guards before heading into closed-door bilateral talks.

Photos and videos from the meeting also showed the two presidents seated together in a formal conference room with the Nigerian and Rwandan flags displayed behind them, signaling strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between both nations.

The Africa CEO Forum, taking place from May 14 to 15 at the Kigali Convention Centre, is regarded as Africa’s largest private sector gathering. This year’s edition is themed “Scale or Fail: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Ownership.”

Over 2,000 business executives, policymakers, investors, and at least six African heads of state are expected to attend the summit, where discussions will focus on investment, economic reforms, innovation, and sustainable growth across the continent.

According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare, Tinubu’s participation in the forum is part of ongoing efforts to position Nigeria as a top destination for local and international investment.

The presidency described Kigali as more than just another diplomatic stop, noting that the visit forms a major part of Nigeria’s broader continental investment outreach strategy.

Tinubu is expected to use the platform to showcase Nigeria’s economic reforms and engage directly with global investors and business leaders interested in Africa’s largest economy.

The Rwanda visit is also part of the president’s ongoing three-nation diplomatic tour, which began with his participation at the Africa–France Summit alongside Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto.

After concluding engagements in Kigali, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria ahead of the APC presidential primary scheduled for May 23.
